Dave Moore, Founder, to continue leading the program he built; Army Veteran Greg Martin to launch new Banner Committee and Innovation Team
BRIDGEWATER, MA — July 1, 2026 — The Fire For Effect Foundation Inc. (FFEF) announced today that it has agreed to absorb and steward the Bridgewater “Hometown Heroes” banner program, originally created and built by Dave Moore, ensuring the tribute initiative continues to thrive, improve, and expand for years to come.
The transition comes as the program’s original core group has begun to age out, and the labor-intensive work required to install and remove banners seasonally has become increasingly difficult to sustain with the same small team. Since its inception, the Hometown Heroes program has become a meaningful and visible cornerstone of the town, honoring local veterans and service members with public banners.
“Getting the banners up and getting them back down is real work—it takes time, coordination, physical labor, and dependable hands,” said Dave Moore, Founder of the Hometown Heroes banner program. “As the original members of the group get older, it’s become harder to accomplish the labor involved with putting the banners up and taking them down. This program means too much to the town to risk it stopping. I’m grateful Fire For Effect Foundation Inc. stepped up to help preserve what we’ve built and keep it moving forward.”
Fire For Effect Foundation Inc. will begin supporting the program immediately, with administrative and operational improvements already underway, including modernized email systems, a new website, and other digital enhancements aimed at making the program more accessible to families and more resilient over time.
Under the new partnership, Dave Moore will join the Fire For Effect Foundation Inc. team and will continue running the program he built for as long as he wishes. Additionally, FFEF has brought in Army Veteran and current Bridgewater Veterans Service Officer Greg Martin to lead the next phase of the program. Martin will oversee the soon-to-be assembled Banner Committee and Innovation Team, focused on streamlining operations and fostering future program growth.

It is vitally important that programs such as this that speak to the very heart and soul of who we are as a community are preserved, developed and fortified to stand the tests of time. What Dave has built must be cherished and I am confident that with Greg Martin involved—who has done amazing work connecting and engaging with our veterans—we will see this program taken in directions not yet seen,” said Al Lacerda, President of Fire For Effect Foundation Inc.
Moore also emphasized that the success of the Hometown Heroes program has always been a community effort. “I want to thank all of the volunteers, sponsors, families, and supporters who have made this program possible over the years,” said Moore. “None of this would have happened without their dedication, generosity, and willingness to give their time. The banners may honor our veterans, but it is the people behind the scenes who made this tribute a reality. I am deeply grateful for everyone who helped build and sustain this program.”
The public can expect more news soon as these improvements roll out. For the time being, transition teams are hard at work behind the scenes to ensure the next banner cycle is the most successful yet.
